Ban Josip Jelačić Square

Ban Josip Jelačić Square today is a central urban space that also has an important traffic role, as it is precisely at this location that the connection between railway and bus transport occurs. The square received its current appearance in 2010, after the completion of extensive reconstruction in which the Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina invested around 1.2 million convertible marks. An area of about 5,500 square meters was arranged, and the project also included a functional solution for the space with 94 parking spaces, seven taxi stands, and two bus stops. In the immediate vicinity of the square is the railway station, which was modernized during the same period, further enhancing the significance of this space. Thanks to this, the square today represents a point where different forms of transport – railway and bus – meet and serves as the main traffic hub of the city. In addition to its traffic function, the square is also one of the busiest places in Čapljina, through which a large number of citizens and travelers pass daily, confirming its importance as a central urban space.
